Fat is an important part of a balanced, like protein and carbohydrates, and just like protein and carbohydrates the type of fat you consume is important.

Generally, there are ‘good’ and ‘bad’ fats that can form of our daily eating habits. ‘Good’ fats are unsaturated fats (monounsaturated & polyunsaturated) which are known to be good for your heart, cholesterol and overall health.

‘Bad’ fats can include trans fats which increase disease risks such as inflammation, poor cholesterol and type 2 diabetes. Artificial trans fats are considered harmful even in small amount.

Finally Saturated fats are considered less of a risk compared to trans fats, however you should be careful to consume them only in moderation, as part of a healthy balanced diet filled with variety.
